Adriana Barreneche has 20 years of legal experience. She started her career working in the private sector in Colombia, as corporate counsel for multinational corporations DuPont and Mazda. In 2004 Adriana received her Law Degree and in 2007 a Graduate Degree in Business Law, both from Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia. In 2012 she received a Master´s Degree (LL.M) in U.S. and Comparative Law from Fordham University School of Law in New York. That year she was the recipient of the “Society’s 2012 Pro Bono Publico Awards” by the Legal Aid Society for the work done in a litigation before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in a case of derivative citizenship. In 2013 she was admitted to practice law in New York and in Illinois. For 10 years she has served as Of Counsel to the Consulate General of Colombia in Chicago. Also, Adriana has been actively involved with several nonprofit organizations in Chicago providing pro bono legal representation and promoting the Latino culture. Since 2013 she has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She speaks both English and Spanish.
